Music Project Research Tips
When performing your research on the indigenous music of your chosen country. Remember some of these tips:
If I perform a Google search using the terms indigenous and Australia and music I get 2,050,000 "hits" (some useful, most not). But if I use a few tricks of the research trade I can narrow that down to 1,520 much more relevant sites. Try this entry.
music* and instrument and Australia and tradition* or indigenous.
(The * will get me music or musical and tradition or traditional) -- The * is above the 8 for those of you who are looking.
For Ireland I will probably include another 'or' like this.
music* and instrument and Ireland or Irish and tradition* or indigenous.
It's much more effective! Now try it with the country you've chosen.
Do you know how to eliminate the commercial sites trying to sell you something?
Beside the entry box on Google choose Advanced Search. Now, about 1/4 of the way down the page look for Domain...Choose Don't from the drop down arrow then enter .com in the box. Now your results are more information based rather than commercial based.
