It’s a new day at Woodstock Christian School and 180 students come bounding from the playground and buses, through the doors and into school, smiling and chattering with one another. With a cheerful "Good morning!”, they greet their teachers and prepare for another day. Throughout the school, sounds of singing, reading scripture/devotionals and engaging in discussions on the hope of God’s presence in the world today, followed by prayers for the school, the family and the world, the day is rooted in Christ’s love. Time for math, Bible, language arts, science, physical education, health, geography, history, music, art…..joy in learning!!
Each subject is about growing-mastering new concepts, uncovering the fingerprints of God and living/serving in community. From JK-8, every child is so uniquely and wonderfully created equipped with different strengths! As teachers plan and lead students through lessons, they strive to reach the needs of each child, providing the structure and support which leads him/her to flourish. Key to effective schools is community, and good relationships between students and teachers are at the heart of great learning. Teachers routinely take workshops and courses to improve excellence in teaching and grow in developing a positive school culture that glorifies God and ensures a safe, stimulating place of learning. At the end of the day, students and teachers leave school, a little better equipped to serve in the places God calls them to be.
Soon it will be Christian Education Week at WCS, a time to celebrate the gift of Christian Education in Woodstock and Oxford County. With thanks, we move forward, knowing that in faith, learning and community, we at WCS are ‘ROOTED IN LOVE’.
