Christian Education in Woodstock
You have certainly come to the right place if your search is for a school that provides a challenging curriculum that is Christian through and through as well as excellent in quality.
John Knox Christian School, located in Woodstock, was established as a Christian day-school in 1959. It is a member of the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools as well as Christian Schools International. These two organisations provide much of the curriculum material and many of the textbooks used at the school. The school is presently preparing for accreditation by the Canadian Hallmarks Institute as part of its strategic plan. The school assists parents of the Christian community by providing Christ centred education for their children from junior kindergarten to grade eight. Many of our graduates then continue their Christian education at our high school campus in London. The parents choose this school because they earnestly desire an education for their children with a curriculum that is permeated with a Biblical perspective that nurtures an enriching knowledge, a growing maturity, and a commitment to our Lord and Saviour.
At present the student population of our school stands around 200 from about 100 families attending roughly 34 different congregations. In general our families are very typical with average incomes. The school's tuition is based on a family rate with some deductions for first-time members and those with children only in the kindergarten grades. The school has a highly qualified and certified faculty and an excellent support staff all working in harmony with the parents to provide a quality Christian education for the students of John Knox. The school operates its own fleet of buses the cost of which is included in the tuition.
A wide ranging curriculum is offered providing exposure to the language arts, the sciences, and the fine and performing arts. The school is registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education and its curriculum meets or surpasses Ministry guidelines. The standardised tests such as the Canadian Test of Basic Skills reveal that our students are well prepared for the challenges of the secondary school. Enrichment programs as well as special education programs are available to our students. JKCS integrates Service-Learning projects into our curriculum in order to provide authentic learning opportunities which will instill an attitude of service in our students. Our facilities are including our athletic fields are available for use by the wider community of Woodstock since our school takes its role as a good corporate citizen very seriously.
The school is under the supervision of a Board of Directors elected from and by the members of the school society. Many volunteers fill committees that look after the needs of the school. Please visit our school and ask for an information package to gain more detailed information about our school. Feel free to visit any time or call for an appointment. Join us on a marvellous journey of education in the light of God's Word.
